Dense, urban and genuinely walkable. Days run on foot. Lambton Quay for work and shopping, the waterfront for a run or a coffee, Courtenay Place and Cuba Street for dinner and nightlife. Busiest by day, lively after dark, with a steady professional, student and international mix.
Housing and streets
Almost entirely apartments. From heritage and warehouse-style conversions to modern towers with harbour views. Standards and outlook vary a lot, so the building, the body corporate and the aspect matter more here than the street. Very little standalone housing.
Getting around
You may not need a car. The railway station, the main bus routes and the ferry all sit on the city’s edge, and almost everything is walkable. Parking is the trade-off. Many apartments include a space, and it is worth checking.
