Maupuia
Maupuia is the hill suburb at the north end of Wellington's Miramar Peninsula, on the slopes of Mount Crawford with Shelly Bay below and the harbour on three sides.
Why people love it here
Maupuia sits on the slopes of Mount Crawford, and almost every street has the harbour in view: Evans Bay and the city one way, the harbour entrance and Eastbourne the other. It is a residential suburb of family homes on the hill, a few minutes from Miramar's shops and the airport.
Shelly Bay is at the bottom of the hill, on the water, and the road round the peninsula starts there and runs to Scorching Bay and Seatoun.
The top of the hill is the reason to live here. Mount Crawford's summit walk has one of the best views in the city, the Massey Memorial sits on Point Halswell below it, and the tracks run down through the reserve to the bays.
Miramar's village, the Roxy and Weta are over the hill, Scorching Bay's beach is round the point, and Miramar Central School and Miramar North School are the local primaries.
